Drawings

I approach drawing much the same way as paintings: creating a field of subtle color and then drawing into the wet oil paint on paper. The sharp pencil tends to glide through the paint and makes for a very sensual experience. Most of my contour drawings are of common everyday things in isolation: ladders, vessels, tools. I place these simple shapes in a painted field of negative space which enriches the drawing.
