In the Chianti Hills

The photographs in this series were made in the Chianti Hills region of Tuscany during early September, when the grapes and figs were ripe for harvest. We stayed at a working vineyard which also doubles as a bed and breakfast, on the outskirts of the town of Castlenuovo Berendengo. Our days were spent exploring the surrounding villages and countryside. The landscape was grooved with rows of grapevines, edged with upward-reaching cypresses, and spotted with the silvery shimmer of olive trees. The color of the late summer Tuscan sun added an extra warmth and texture to the land and its architecture. The images in this body of work reflect my impression of this ancient and timeless Italian place.
